Quote of the Day

What better day than today to post The Top Civilian’s ‘quote of the day’: “I understand the tight money situation. I break into people’s houses just to search their sofas for loose change. Poyo looks like Warren Buffet compared to me nowadays.”

While we’re at it… as we prepare our an outdoor festival concert tomorrow, why not get the word out for our next show in the meantime. Be there!

The Gateway Drug Voted Siouxland’s Best Hip-Hop Band.

Huge and sincere thanks to all that voted in The Weekender’s 8th Annual Siouxland Choice Awards and made us the winner of the “Best Local Hip-Hop Band/Musician” category!! Big up to our homeboys Lazer Rocket Arm for finishing #2 in the poll.
Plus, for the second year in a row, we were named a write-in category winner. This year as the “Most likely to gain fame in Japan”. But we’re totally bummed we lost to
Man eats Bear in the “Sexiest Looking Band” write-in voting.
Pick up a copy of Thursday February 18th, 2010’s Siouxland Weekender to check out the full results and other winners. Or check out their website:
Siouxland Weekender.

Our victory party will be at Red’s Pub (voted the #3 “Place to Hear Live Music”) on Saturday February 27th, 2010 at Hip-Hop Night @ 9:30 PM with The ReMINDers, Lazer Rocket Arm, and Animal Teef. Be there- free autographs and hugs for all. Check the EVENTS page for more on the show.

In other Awards news, “Sexy Darkness” was chosen as Garage Band’s Hip-Hop Song of the Day on February 8th, 2010. So more to celebrate!

Major Label Records?

Has The Gateway Drug signed to Major Label Records?
Come to the record release party to find out!!

saluting Major Label!

“Babylon” on the radio!

New 102.3 KQNU (a corporate-owned, adult contemporary/top 40 FM station) just played a song from a local, indie Hip-Hop group!! We were sandwiched between Gavin Rossdale and Three Days Grace.
We’re kind of a big deal. People know us…and not just in Japan anymore.

UPDATE: Later in the evening, “Eggfooyun” and “Truth Untold” also hit the airwaves.
How’d we pull off that caper, you ask? Well, the station was calling for listeners to request ANY song in the world and they would play it for a $10 donation to the Red Cross for the relief fund to aid victims of last week’s major earthquake in Haiti. We decided to step up to the bar to help.

Did you hear any of the jams? We just hope no one crashed their car in shock when hearing GwD reach the masses through FM airwaves.
